Quit Whining and Start Selling! A StepbyStep Guide to a Hall of Fame Career in Sales eBook Kelly S Riggs
Quit Whining and Start Selling! is a fantastically practical and digestible piece of work. It has small snackable chapters that are easy and entertaining to read. Even non-readers will like this book. There are 9 sections and 48 bite-sized but salient chapters. The scope is impressive. Quit Whining and Start Selling! covers virtually every topic in sales. Riggs has done us a great service with this work. It's like having several books all consolidated into one easy read.
The quality of the thinking and content is phenomenal and there are some nice touches as well. For example each chapter begins with two quotes the frame up the chapter and then each chapter ends with a 1-to-1 Principle that sums up the chapter into one sentence. I found the content inspiring and completely in alignment with my philosophy and personal values (i.e. Sales is Service).
If you are looking for a sales book and value your time I would argue there is no better book than this. It's just a fantastic all-encompassing book. If I were starting over again I would want to start with this book because it's tight and contains all of the important sales and business principles needed to succeed. I would recommend it to both new and seasoned salespeople as well as entrepreneurs. I only wish I'd had access to this years ago. 5 stars.

Quit Whining and Start Selling! A StepbyStep Guide to a Hall of Fame Career in Sales eBook Kelly S Riggs Reviews
Good book. The author is very insightful and on target. I would recommend this to anyone in sales.or customer service.
It's easy to whine, to get caught up in all the things you can't control and to overlook the things you can control. Quit Whining really resonated with me. Selling has never been more challenging. There are more competitors then ever before; more information and more reasons for customers to say no, or worse yet, do nothing (which leads to whining). Kelly does a great job of stripping away the excuses and gets to the heart of selling. He provides a comprehensive, yet practical way to sell. I really like the focus on sales process and getting to the high-value opportunities, and how to get to the needs of the customer. In his process he builds a foundation through planning, discovery, presentations and the steps required to deliver effectively. I highly recommend you read this book. If you do, you stand a great chance of making it to the Sales Hall of Fame!
There are lots of books on selling so you cannot read all of them - this is one that is worth your time.
The author has captured a significant number of important and practical suggestions for getting it right. In addition the writing style makes for a easy read.
Perhaps my favorite style point was including a 1 on 1 principle at the end of chapters that constitute an importent best practice. A couple stand out. Sales people are consultants that must be experts. Today there is no questions to the validity of that idea. The second one was qualifying is the first objective. There is nothing that is a greater source of failure than doing a good job chasing bad business.
I loved the book because of its blunt style! Spot on sales advice from an author who clearly had a very very successful sales career. Too many times sales book are full of theory but I didn't find any theory in this book, it's blunt, straight talk that every salesperson new or experienced will benefit from.
Just read Kelly Riggs' Quit Whining and Start Selling. This is a solid book with helpful, ultra-practical advice.
Favorite aspect Short, easy-to-digest chapters.
Favorite Section Part VI - Presentation
Favorite Chapter Ch. 34 - Dead Money
This book is a great reference tool and it will remain on my bookshelf within reach. It's well laid-out, well written, entertaining and to the point. I love the opening line to the Foreword provided by one of Riggs' clients and a best-selling author in his own right "Have you ever noticed that the last people to get fired from the company are the rainmakers?" Exactly. Improve your rainmaking ability and sharpen your sword by grabbing this book.

No quick method to selling here, but just plan solid how to get going and get it done. At this point I'm using the chapter by chapter questions and suggestions to create two new initiatives for the coming year.
The principles are valid across all selling techniques although it is focused on the individual salesman. As I retread it I took an approach of how this principles could help in the digital platform. I found myself reevaluating my approach. E.g. Discovery and prospect interaction became a need to get feedback where I can not do one on one communication. But lead to an integration of survey methods and social media interaction.
Well done, concise and to the point. Argument vs story is priceless and a truly worth reading and implementing today.
